17th March 2025
At the Glasgow City Region 5G Innovation & Connectivity Showcase on 13th March, Bield Housing & Care and Archangel were delighted to present early findings from their collaborative project, 'Joining the Dots: Healthy Homes, Healthy Lives'. Funded by the UK Government’s 5G Innovation Programme, this ground-breaking initiative showcased how technology can transform social housing, enhancing tenant services and wellbeing through smart, real-time solutions.
Gavin Wright, Head of Property Management at Bield Housing, highlighted the impressive benefits already realised at Biggar Langvout Court. The data-driven insights from IoT sensors has led to early warnings of potential issues such as boiler breakdowns, and has helped identify concerns like rising humidity levels, which can prevent major problems like mould. The system has also been key in monitoring ventilation and temperature fluctuations, ensuring properties remain comfortable and energy efficient—benefits that extend to both tenants and Bield Housing.
Brian Brown from Archangel expressed his excitement about the project’s progress, pointing to the actionable insights gathered through IoT data, which have made a tangible difference to tenants' lives.
Both teams are looking forward to expanding this technology to additional sites, with results from an independent evaluation by FarrPoint to be shared in May.
As Archangel continues to lead the way in innovation, the partnership with Bield signals a new era for social housing, where technology, care and property management work in tandem to enhance tenant services and outcomes.
Keep an eye out for further updates and the final evaluation findings, coming this May!
